Providing Delaware County communities with affordable housing, quality day care, positive programming for youth, safety, emergencyHome Collage  response and health issues … these are some of the many ways that "DelawareCares."

Over a year-long period, United Way of Delaware County and four community partners asked you, your co-workers and neighbors what human service and quality of life issues you care about most. This countywide survey project assessed "our hopes, our dreams, our community" — with your input. DelawareCares identified a community vision for Delaware County; developed strategies for realizing that vision; and created measurements to gauge our progress toward that vision.

Data were being gathered from throughout the community in household surveys, focus groups and community meetings, where residents and employees will share the "quality of life" issues that matter most to them.

United Way and its partners is addressing these priorities and monitoring the outcomes of our work. We convene the resources needed to make positive changes in our community based on your input about what matters most.

Updates on the progress of the project are available on this Web site. Thank you for helping us determine how "DelawareCares."

Phase III Report Presents Issues and Outcomes of DelawareCares

presentationHow will Delaware County human service partners respond to the issues that the DelawareCares community assessment identified as our county's most pressing needs?  What outcomes of the survey and suggested approaches will determine strategies to address issues in transporation, housing, ethnic diversity, access to health care, and programming for youth?  The Phase III DelawareCares Report, available here in PDF form, summarizes those issues and outcomes.

Stakeholders from throughout the community enjoyed a wrap-up breakfast and community briefing on the outcomes on Sept. 29.  Copies of the report also will be available on CD-ROM and paper hard copy at Delaware County libraries.
